Mary Ann Rock, [1931-2013], Born In Saint Louis, Missouri. Much Of Her Early Adult Life Was Spent Exploring Artists Colonies In New York And Taos, New Mexico Where She Studied And Developed Her Skills As A Sculptor, Linoleum And Wood Block Printer, And Painter. She Arrived On San Juan Island In The Early 1970S Continuing Her Work As A Figurative Artist. She Was Director Of Cannery House Gallery (1980-85) And Gallery Assistant At Waterworks Gallery (1986-95). It Was At This Time She Began Her Art Company, Dream Keeper, Illustrating Agency Brochures. She Exhibited In Over Forty Art Shows, Frequently In Local Galleries And Also In Seattle, Bellingham, Bellevue, Portland, Oregon, St. Louis, Missouri, And Lyon, France. Dream Keeper, A Book Of Her Wood Blocks And Paintings, Was Published In 1995. She Considered Herself A Painter Of The Human Condition. As She Stated In Dream Keeper, “I Want To Explore The Various Conditions, Both Physical And Emotional, That We Experience During A Lifetime. The Human Condition Has Always Interested Me Rather Selfishly As A Way To Understand Myself.”
